Nasal surgery works great most of the time. But if there is prior deviated septum, infection, or over reduction of hump or narrowing, the nose may not function well.
The nasal anatomy probably is too narrow at some point and must be widened, and the support structures of the tip and lateral nose must be strengthened.
Revision of prior nasal surgery may include:
We may need to borrow support from neighboring nasal or ear cartilage, or from distant sources.
Bone grafts may be necessary from the scalp, hip or rib back. At rare times, we suggest a bone bank for tissue.
Incisions are usually inside the nose but an external-open rhinoplasty approach may be required.
Thus, a lengthy consultation is required, options discussed and a plan devised to deal with your nasal collapse. Photographs will be taken and x-rays may be in order to evaluated sinuses.
Insurance may cover some of the procedures but most surgeries will be a cosmetic/reconstructive procedure and thus NOT covered by insurance.
